Here We Stand

Curriculum: “Here We Stand” is a groundbreaking Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation) ministry that combines traditional print along with online resources. It is a three-year journey that takes the student through the Old and New Testaments of the Bible along with Luther’s Small Catechism. “Here We Stand” presents sound Lutheran theology in a serious but oftentimes humorous fashion that keeps kids wanting to come back.

Study for this year will focus on the New Testament. Retreats, service projects, and fellowship opportunities will also be offered to help develop deeper relationships with God and each other.

“Here We Stand” consists of:

Weekly Instruction

Classes will be held on a regular basis Sunday evenings beginning by sharing a meal at 5:30 p.m. Large group instruction will be from 6:00-6:45 followed by small group discussion from 6:45-7:30.

Weekly Worship

Worship opportunities are Sundays at 8:00 & 10:45 a.m. There will also be other opportunities for worship during the year such as Thanksgiving Eve, Healing Services, and Mid-Week Lenten Services. Turning in worship notes will serve as a vehicle to show that the student attended worship.

Akaloo Sunday School

It is expected that students will attend Sunday school on Sunday mornings. There are also opportunities for adult education during the Sunday school hour. Parent’s/guardians are encouraged to participate.

Acolyting

All students will be scheduled to serve as acolytes.

Usher, Greeter, Nursery Helper

These will be other opportunities to serve during worship. Note: Helping in the Nursery does not count as attending worship.

Worship Notes

Taking notes during worship helps students to better understand and appreciate what Christians experience as they gather together to hear God’s Word and celebrate the Sacraments. Forms will be made available for students.

Fellowship Events, Retreats, and Service Projects

This part of the ministry will facilitate building community, enjoying God’s creation and living out Christ’s love in the world. (Link to Youth & Family Calendar)
