You may have been a guest with us for some time, or this may be your first contact with ALC. Whatever the case, we want you to know that you are always welcome. We are glad to have you as a part of our congregation either as a guest, a friend of the congregation, or someone searching for a Church home.
If you choose to become a member, you will commit to upholding the recently adopted ALC Vision Statement that provides direction and purpose as we continue to be a vital witness to Jesus Christ in our community and beyond:
We welcome you to join us in this mission and vision.
By Transfer from another ELCA congregation
By Affirmation of Faith if you have been a member of another Christian Church body that does not provide a Letter of Transfer.
By Reaffirmation of Faith if you have not been an active member of another Christian congregation.
By Confirmation if you have never affirmed your Baptism.
By Baptism if you or any children may not have been previously baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
In all cases, you are asked to follow these steps when considering membership:
Regularly attend Sunday worship at either our 8:00 or 10:30 a.m. services.
Be involved in some aspect of ALC’s life of ministry to help you to gain insight into the ALC faith community. You are also encouraged to speak with the Pastor about the congregation. He will be very happy to meet with you.
Through prayer and discussion, seek God’s guidance as to whether this is the place God is calling you to. Families are encouraged to discuss this decision openly, making it a family decision when older children are involved.
Becoming a member of a Church is a very important decision and commitment. Contact the church office at 281-852-7333 about the next “Evening of Inquiry” event. This is a time for those considering membership to get together in an informal setting to meet new people and learn more about the ministries of ALC.
Once you decide to become a member of ALC, you will be received into the congregation during Sunday worship by making a public commitment of faith, and membership to this faith community. After being received as a member, you will be expected to continue your journey of discipleship and membership by choosing to be involved in some of the various opportunities for spiritual growth and faith community connection. Such involvement will help you experience what it means to be a disciple of Christ.
For more information about becoming a member of ALC, please contact Pastor Gary Anholt at PGAnholt@earthlink.net or call 281-852-7333.
