Affirmation of Baptism (also known as confirmation) is the Rite of the Church in which young people publicly affirm the Baptismal covenant the God established with them in their Baptism. It is a time when they accept for themselves the responsibility for their personal response, through faith, to God’s love and grace in their daily lives. It is not an ending, but rather a part of the journey in a life-long relationship with God. Therefore, the purpose of Affirmation of Baptism instruction is to assist them in their understanding of the truth of Scripture and the doctrines of the Church. To be a positive experience for all involved, the Affirmation of Baptism ministry this is offered at Atascocita Lutheran Church requires the cooperation of the students, their families and the whole family of faith. There are many opportunities throughout the church for students to serve. Worship opportunities include ushers, greeter, handbell choir, and nursery assistant. Mentoring to the Pre-school and Elementary age children is also a wonderful way to serve. These opportunities include helping with God Squad and Vacation Bible School.
